THE L’ORÉAL COLOUR TROPHY
Since its inception in 1954, the L’Oréal Colour Trophy has continued to spotlight the talent of our industry. Ever evolving, the competition now welcomes thousands of competitors and guests from across the UK and Ireland every year.
In 2023, the competition’s mission is simple: to embark on a quest to uncover talent from all corners of the UK and Ireland. For the first time in our long-standing history, the new L’Oréal Colour Trophy Moving Image Award category is open to entrants working in a salon, or as an independent stylist.
The competition invites entrants across ALL categories to create a colour look on any model, of any gender or any gender identity of any hair type, with the Afro Award specialising in a hair type texture between 3C and 4C.
With 6 categories to choose from in the UK and 4 categories to choose from in Ireland, there are unique opportunities to spotlight your talent this year.
WHAT CATEGORIES ARE THERE THIS YEAR?
Our flagship category. Entrants must create a well-executed, inspirational and modern colour look on any model, of any gender or any gender identity of any hair type. This must be complemented by a beautiful style, finish and total look taking inspiration from upcoming trends. Open to those in the UK and Ireland.
Entrants must create a well-executed, inspirational and modern colour look on any model of any gender or any gender identity of a hair type texture between 3C and 4C. This must be complemented by a beautiful style, finish and total look taking inspiration from upcoming trends. Open to UK entrants only.
Entrants must be a L’Oréal Professionnel Paris Colour Specialist to enter this category. Entrants must create a well-executed, inspirational and modern colour look on any model, of any gender or any gender identity of any hair type. This must be complemented by a beautiful style, finish and total look taking inspiration from upcoming trends. Open to UK entrants only.
Showcasing the rising stars in our Industry, this category is open to entrants between 16-25. Entrants must create a well-executed, inspirational and modern colour look on any model, of any gender or any gender identity of any hair type. This must be complemented by a beautiful style, finish and total look taking inspiration from upcoming trends. Open to those in the UK and Ireland.
Celebrating the newest to the hairdressing Industry, the Future Talent Award is open to students currently enrolled on a full or part-time qualifying course. Entrants must create a well-executed, inspirational and modern colour look on any model, of any gender or any gender identity of any hair type. This must be complemented by a beautiful style, finish and total look taking inspiration from upcoming trends. Open to those in the UK and Ireland.
Our BRAND NEW category is open to those working in a salon or as an independent stylist. Are you a socially savvy storyteller? Entrants must create an Instagram or TikTok style reel between 30-55 seconds long, showcasing your models transformation. Entrants must create a well-executed, inspirational and modern colour look on any model, of any gender or any gender identity of any hair type. This must be complemented by a beautiful style, finish and total look taking inspiration from upcoming trends. Open to those in the UK and Ireland.

*Entries closing date: 22:00 on 17/04/23. UK & ROI residents 16+ (and up to aged 25 for STAR award category) as of closing date. Upload entry to www.lorealcolourtrophy.com (UK) or www.lorealcolourtrophy.ie (ROI). Must be in a salon team except Future Talent or Moving Image. Entrants for the Moving Image category may be employed by a salon or work as an independent stylist. Salon must be trading. One entry per individual across all categories. Team members cannot change/swap once submitted. Entrants must only use L’Oréal Professionnel Paris colour & styling products on model. Applicable to UK: Colour Specialist entrants must be a Colour Specialist (passed 15-day Diploma course & final exam). Winning team (or Future Talent or Moving Image winner) receives 2023/24 Award & prize experiences including event(s) and/or trip dependent on category.
